Is Zelenskyy a Dictator?

There are lots of memes floating around out there. Many of them are directly from Russian propaganda arms. Most are misleading or outright false.

This image makes several serious claims against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, portraying him as a dictator. I’ll go through the claims one by one, clarifying their context and accuracy.

1. “BANNED the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”
• Misleading: Zelenskyy did not ban the entire Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). However, his government imposed restrictions on religious organizations affiliated with Russia amid the ongoing war with Russia. The Ukrainian government has specifically targeted the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) because of its historical ties to the Russian Orthodox Church, which has supported Russia’s invasion. Some UOC clergy have been accused of collaborating with Russian forces.

2. “EXILED Ukrainian Church Leaders”
• Misleading: Some UOC clergy members accused of supporting Russia have been sanctioned or had their citizenship revoked, but there hasn’t been mass exile. Individuals linked to pro-Russian activities have faced legal consequences, but this is due to national security concerns during wartime rather than religious persecution.

3. “BANNED Political Opposition Parties”
• Partially True (Context Matters): Several pro-Russian political parties were suspended in 2022, including the Opposition Platform – For Life, which had strong ties to the Kremlin. This was done under martial law due to concerns about collaboration with Russia. However, opposition parties that are not linked to Russia, such as European Solidarity and Batkivshchyna, continue to operate.

4. “JAILED Political Opposition Leaders”
• Misleading: There have been cases where individuals affiliated with pro-Russian parties faced legal action, but this was primarily based on accusations of treason or aiding the enemy, not simply for political opposition.

5. “BANNED Members of His Own Party”
• Unverified: There are no major reports of Zelenskyy banning his own party members from participation in politics.

6. “JAILED Members of His Own Party”
• Unverified: There are no widely known cases of Zelenskyy imprisoning members of his own party without due process.

7. “BANNED Media Who Criticized Him”
• Misleading: Ukraine has imposed wartime restrictions on media, but there is still active criticism of Zelenskyy within Ukraine. Independent media outlets continue to operate, and there are debates within the country regarding his leadership. Some Russian-affiliated media were restricted due to security concerns.

8. “JAILED Media Members Who Opposed Him”
• Unverified: There are no credible reports of journalists being imprisoned solely for opposing Zelenskyy. However, martial law has increased government oversight of media, and there have been accusations of pressure on journalists, particularly in cases of national security concerns.

9. “BANNED All Who Did Not Agree With Him”
• False: Ukraine remains a democracy, and there is active political opposition, independent journalism, and public criticism of Zelenskyy.

10. “JAILED Anyone Who Opposed Him in Ukraine”
• False: Many opposition politicians, activists, and critics continue to operate freely. Some individuals accused of collaborating with Russia have been prosecuted, but this is based on national security concerns rather than political dissent.

Conclusion

This image presents a highly misleading and propagandistic portrayal of Zelenskyy. While Ukraine has taken measures against pro-Russian entities and individuals accused of treason, especially during wartime, the country still functions as a democracy. Opposition parties (except pro-Russian ones), independent media, and criticism of the government continue to exist. The claims in the image align with Russian propaganda, which seeks to discredit Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s leadership.

Episode 622 - Field Producer Dennis Azato and Chuck Reminisce

"I testify to you on this day that I am pure from the blood of all. For I did not keep back from declaring to you all the counsel of God." (Acts 20: 26-27)

Those in church leadership, who intentionally neglect God's word, only teaching what they think is best — will be held accountable. They will be judged with greater severity by Him (James 3:1). Paul took this matter very seriously, as the above verses teach us. For all of God's counsel (the Bible) is profitable (2 Timothy 3:14-17); we shouldn't shy away from difficult or controversial passages, but rather embrace them in a humble and prayerful spirit. Studying diligently to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15). Not just before men, but moreso before God/Jesus — since He's our final Judge (Romans 14:10). Leaning not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5), but on the Spirit of Truth, who God has given us as a personal Teacher (John 16:13-14).

Lord, help us to set our pride aside, and embrace biblical discipleship. Which allows ...

Venezuela’s F-16 Provocation

The world doesn’t slow down, and neither do the threats we face. Yesterday brought a stark reminder of that when two Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets buzzed the USS Jason Dunham in international waters.

The Pentagon issued a sharp statement:

“Today, two Maduro regime military aircraft flew near a U.S. Navy vessel in international waters. This highly provocative move was designed to interfere with our counter-narco terror operations. The cartel running Venezuela is strongly advised not to pursue any further effort to obstruct, deter, or interfere with counter narcotics and counterterror operations carried out by the U.S. military.”

That’s about as clear as it gets. Venezuela—already drowning in corruption, cartel ties, and authoritarian control—is poking the bear. The question is: what should America do about it?

The overflight wasn’t done with Russian-made Flankers, as I might have expected, but with U.S.-made F-16s. Back in the 1980s, Washington sold Caracas two dozen of them. Today, most of those planes are grounded for lack of parts and maintenance. Venezuela claims 14 are still flightworthy, but experts believe the number is closer to three.

That makes the provocation even more interesting—dusting off old American jets to fly dangerously close to one of our destroyers. And make no mistake: the Arleigh Burke-class Jason Dunham could have swatted them from the sky in seconds.

Words Matter - Busting Lies about Gaza
What the Data Really Shows

For nearly two years, the war between Israel and Hamas has been framed in the starkest moral terms. Activists, NGOs, and even governments have accused Israel of genocide against the people of Gaza. The word “genocide” carries immense legal and moral weight — it evokes Rwanda, the Holocaust, the deliberate attempt to wipe out an entire people. But when a term this powerful is misapplied, it loses its meaning.

A new, in-depth study from the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, authored by historians, military analysts, and legal scholars, takes a hard look at the genocide allegations and finds them built on sand. The report’s aim is not to excuse Israel’s mistakes or downplay suffering in Gaza — but to sift fact from fiction.

Drones, Deterrence, and a Nuclear “Flex”: This Week’s Middle East Reality Check

There’s a lot to cover, and it all connects.

1) Shin Bet Foils Drone Assassination Plot on Israel’s National Security Minister

Israel’s Shin Bet and the IDF broke up a Hamas-directed cell out of Hebron that was plotting to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvirwith drones.

  • How it was supposed to work: The cell bought multiple commercial drones (think DJI FPV/Avata and Mavic-style platforms) and planned to mount explosives or use them as high-speed kamikaze vehicles.

  • Who was really running it: Instructions and direction were coming from Hamas operatives in Turkey. Let that sink in—a NATO country is the rear area for a terror org that just tried to take out a sitting Israeli minister.

  • Why this matters: Small drones aren’t “toys” anymore. Strap a grenade under a 250-gram quadcopter and you’ve got a precision drop weapon. Rig an FPV racer and it’s a guided missile at 60–100 mph. We’ve seen versions of this in Ukraine, Syria, and even the attempted hit on Maduro in Venezuela.

Bottom line: Counter-drone is no longer optional around VIPs—or your neighborhood, if things ever go sideways. The threat isn’t theoretical; it’s here.

2) Gaza: Hostage “Proof of Life,” Civilians Blocked, and the Coming Push

Just before we went live, Hamas released a new proof-of-life video for one of the Israeli hostages. Same old psychological warfare; same refusal to release Red Cross access.

On the ground:

  • The IDF is staging for expanded operations in/around Gaza City—calling up tens of thousands of reservists, forward-positioning armor and engineering assets, and mapping humanitarian corridors and aid points away from combat zones.

  • Reports on the ground say Hamas has blocked families from leaving areas Israel has warned will become active battle spaces—human shields all over again.

Translation: Israel is telegraphing the safer routes and stocking them with food/medical aid; Hamas is trying to keep civilians in the crossfire. That tells you everything you need to know about motives.
