While our diplomats are busy jogging from one negotiation to another trying to spin up deals, Tehran is jamming GPS signals in the Straits of Hormuz and openly threatening global trade. Meanwhile, President Trump’s administration claims we’re “close to a deal.” The Ayatollah says otherwise. In fact, he’s saying things so belligerent, they don’t even deserve a response. But they do deserve attention.
The Strait of Tension
Let’s look at the map. The Strait of Hormuz—a narrow 22-mile shipping chokepoint bordered by Oman and the UAE—is a critical artery for global energy. Around 20% of the world’s oil and nearly 30% of natural gas move through there. Iran knows this. That’s why they’re jamming GPS signals and harassing commercial ships. They want vessels to veer into Iranian waters so they can pounce, seize, and make headlines.
And they’ve done it before. This isn’t new. Back in 2019, they pulled the same stunt when we applied “maximum pressure.” It’s a game of brinksmanship, and they’re playing to win.
