Jesus, whose High Priesthood is according to the order of Melchizedek (unceasing/eternal), and not Aaron’s of the Old Covenant (Hebrews 6:19-20). He entered the Holy of Holies in Heaven's temple, for our benefit (Hebrews 9:24), not to merely atone for our sins, but to obtain everlasting redemption for us (Hebrews 9:11-15). Not to merely hold back God's wrath temporarily, but to be an offering (and propitiation) for sin that satisfies His holy wrath/justice completely (Hebrews 10:7-14). For Christ's blood doesn't merely cover sin for a time period, as in the Day of Atonement (in the Old Covenant), but completely removes sin from us! In order for every believer to have direct, permanent and gracious access to God's very presence, in Heaven's Holy of Holies, on account of His finished work, and unceasing Priestly ministry (Hebrews 4:14-16).
For Christ was sacrificed on Passover (feast of unleavened bread), and not on the Day of Atonement, as is commonly misunderstood. And truly, this feast is primarily related to redemption. For, elsewhere, it is written, that Christ is our Passover Lamb, that takes away (lifts up or removes) our sins by His own blood:
"Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us." (I Corinthians 5:7)
"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)
